No algorithm update can take them away, no competitor can copy your exact structure, and they cost nothing but a little planning. What Internal Links Actually Do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Internal links serve two audiences at once. For visitors, they’re a path to related content or the next logical step \u2014 a blog post leading to a service page, or one guide referencing another. For Google, they’re a signal of importance and relationship: a page that gets linked to often, from relevant pages, reads as more important than an orphan page nobody links to at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hub-and-Spoke Model<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The simplest structure that works for almost any small business site is hub-and-spoke. Your “hub” is a core page you want to rank well \u2014 usually a service page, like an SEO or web design service. Your “spokes” are blog posts that go deep on related subtopics, each one linking back to the hub. Rule 1: Link With Intent, Not Just Because You Can<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Every internal link should answer a real question: would someone reading this sentence actually want to click through to that page right now? If the answer is no, the link is filler, and filler links dilute the value of the ones that actually matter. A handful of genuinely useful links beats a paragraph stuffed with five links nobody will click.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rule 2: Use Descriptive Anchor Text<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
